French Ormolu & Bronze Tankard of medium proportions and heavy gauge quality, last half of the Nineteenth Century.
The hinged dome shaped cover with acorn capped finial above a cylindrical body which is cast in high relief depicting a continuous decorative scene of a Bacchanalian Revel Banquet, attended by a Cherub holding grapes, ending on a reeded ormolu spreading base. The “S” scroll handle mounted with a Caryatid figure of a female.
Condition: Superb, no imperfections. This piece has been professionally re-gold plated and bronze patinated. Handle is a little loose.
